Who is she? - Soft pastels on papier - 50x65cm - 1981
In 1981 I spent a summer season in Salou, drawing portraits in the street. Tomas Gomez was my master. He learned me the beginnings of drawing portraits. Here you see one of the portraits I made in Salou. It's a sad story. The drawing is of a Dutch girl. We never met before. I made her portrait to put beside me as an example. I wrote down her name and address and I was going to send her the portrait at the end of the season. But one day all my drawing materials were robbed. Also the box with soft pastels in which I stored her address. As a result I was never able to deliver the portrait to her. Maybe somebody recognises her! Please let me know. I could finally deliver her the drawing and make my apologies!

Today I'm launching my new website. I was able to acquire the domain toonvandijk.nl. It was occupied a few years ago, but now it appeared to be available. How lucky is that? I had to learn Joomla, the software to build this website. That wasn't easy! But after a week of hard working I think I know enough to make a start. Welcome and thank you for your visit.
